I have updated Onyx counters in all four of my bathrooms and Onyx remodel of a shower/tub to a Onyx shower with sliding doors and love all of it! I took out the old stock laminate molded bathroom counters and updated with with a custom Onyx top and new faucets. It really wasn't hard-just heavy. They are very helpful when you call with questions.
I called today around 1:30/2 pm and left a message and have not heard back.
They finally accepted fault and stated they would refund the original base and that we would need to order a custom one, which would be 1.5-2 times more expensive.
At this point we might just cancel the rest of the order.
I hired a contractor to install the shower with doors. He accidentally cut into the base when modifying the shower wall and didn't read the directions about reinforcing the wall when installing a shower seat. Back to Onyx I go for answers. They sent out a repairman who repaired the small cuts in the base and came up with suggestions to reinforce the seat. They were out to my house within two weeks of me contacting them and the additional materials to support the shower seat arrived within a few days. I would have used this product as my kitchen counter if it would have help up to the wear and tear of a kitchen. I've sold real estate in the past and would always see Onyx countertops in $500k or $125K homes. They last for years and will look great when you keep them polished (helps with keeping them spot free). The look of stone without the price!
Without even telling us the exact price they accepted an order for the custom base from our contractor.

So yeah if you want a hole in your bathroom for weeks, having to call multiple times to convince them of their mistake, and end up paying more than your original order, go with Onyx!

On the other bathroom however; we've experienced terrible customer service. They cut the drain opening off centre and refused to admit that there was even the possibility of a mistake on their part.
